On their last date, he’d taken her to the opera. The date before that was dinner at a multiple Michelin-starred restaurant. He’d popped open a bottle of champagne, gone down on one knee and, with a sparking solitaire, laid bare his heart.

But now that they were married, the practicalities of life had begun to overshadow these grand gestures of romance. Now, there were bills to worry about, finances to plan and futures to secure.
