Story 

She was the already on her way to class when she realised that she’d forgotten her homework at home. But she was running late and going back meant she’d miss her class. So, with an apology playing on her lips, she carried on. But her teacher was in no mood to listen – apart from being told off for being careless, she was also mocked for her looks and dark complexion in front of the whole class. She was the star player of the school team and that, somehow, also became a cause for criticism – the teacher blamed her for not being feminine enough. Her heart burned as her classmates jeered at her, egged on by the teacher.

When it was time to go home, she decided to walk alone and take the longer route. She followed the bees to an outcrop of stunning red and yellow-coloured canna lilies. She’d never seen these flowers before and was intrigued. As she looked closer, she noticed that the flower petals were asymmetrical, with the smaller petals struggling to emerge from behind the larger ones. Yes, the flowers weren’t perfect but that didn’t mean they weren’t beautiful. She resolved to never let anyone bring her down again, because she knew she was worth so much more.

Chanderi is a luxurious but lightweight fabric. Silk, cotton and zari are woven together on the warp and weft in various combinations to create different textures – the resultant fabric is visually stunning and feels exceptionally comfortable. It is no surprise then that this fabric was favoured by royalty and continues to be a hot favourite, especially for the festive season. The fabric used for this blouse is a handloom weave. The process is time and labour intensive, but adds an inimitable beauty to the fabric.
