Story

She’d often gone great lengths to dodge her mischievous friends, to avoid even a single stain of colour until her mother did the honours. This year, she was many miles away from her family and her heart was heavy. On the morning of Holi, she walked over to her landlady’s house to wish her. The door opened and a sweet smile greeted her. For a moment, it felt as though she was transported to her childhood, as her landlady lovingly smeared a small strip of orange down her cheek. She stood there stunned for a few seconds, before bursting into tears and tightly hugging her landlady.

Description

Shibori is a manual resist-dyeing technique of producing intricate patterns on fabric. There are numerous ways in which the fabric can be bound, stitched, folded, twisted or compressed, and each of these ways results in different patterns. In these gorgeous sarees, the tradition-honed art has been implemented on mul modal fabric, to create sarees that are lightweight and comfortable, while also visually stunning.
Modal products are nature-based, made from fibres derived from wood pulp. This material is sustainable as the wood pulp used is responsibly sourced. Modal fabric has a very low environmental footprint - its production uses significantly lesser natural resources than other fibres. At Suta, we add another layer of innovation to modal by creating our own mul modal fabric. This fabric combines modal yarn and our signature made-in-heaven mul yarn to bring to you the best of both fabric types.
